About Me

Hi, I'm Suraj Roka - a Software Engineering student, passionate about building meaningful digital experiences. I enjoy turning ideas into real applications using Java, Python, C++, Spring Boot, JavaScript, and modern web technologies. Whether it's developing scalable backend systems, creating responsive websites, or designing clean user interfaces, I love solving problems through technology.

My path into tech actually started in design. Before software took over, I worked as a Senior Graphic Designer, streamlining brand workflows for dozens of clients — and that same instinct for clean, considered visuals still shapes how I build software today.

Outside the classroom, I served as President of the Leo Club of Kathmandu Gaurav, leading cross-functional teams through community service events across a dozen-plus venues — experience that taught me as much about coordination as any codebase has.

JPMorgan Chase — Software Engineering

  • Integrated Apache Kafka with a Spring Boot microservice to consume and deserialize transaction messages using configurable topics and embedded Kafka tests.
  • Built transactional workflows with Spring Data JPA and H2 SQL, including balance updates, validation logic, and a REST endpoint for querying user balances — verified through Maven tests.
